The Oglethorpe Statue in Chippewa Square

Posted by in Chippewa Square, HDR Photography, Savannah | November 02, 2011

Today, I decided to do something a little different. I decided to put up a new photographs from the Savannah area, then make it available as a Wallpaper for your computer for download. So, if you like the image, click on the download link and all four sizes (1024×768, 1280×1024, 1920×1080, 2560×1440) will download right to your computer. If people like this, I may start doing it on a weekly basis, call it Wallpaper Wednesday : ) .

So, this photograph is of the James Oglethorpe Statue located in Chippewa Square. James Oglethorpe was born on December 22nd, 1696 in England. He is credited with establishing the colony of Georgia. He also founded the city of Savannah in 1733. If you would like to read more about James Oglethorpe, I found a nice little article with much more information about him. Btw, this is the statue that ‘comes to life’ in Visit Savannah’s latest tourism video on Savannah.
