A Little About Myself

Savannah Photographer

Well, to start out with, my name is Tim Nealon. I live in Savannah Georgia. I am 31 years of age. I am well known for my photography work, which is the main theme behind this website. Make sure you bookmark my site as I will constantly be putting up new images, tutorials, reviews and more.

While the main theme of this website is my landscape, travel and creative portraiture photography, commercial photography pays the bills.  I work with businesses and organizations in the Savannah area. A given day for me can be photographing hotels rooms one day and ice cream for a local dessert place the next.

I am the father to two wonderful little girls, Mya and Emilee. Whether we are watching iCarly, ice skating or simply going out for dinner, there are no two people that I would rather be spending time with…

In my spare time I enjoy a number of activities including white water rafting/kayaking, travel, reading, teaching myself new talents and whatever else comes up.

I have a little pup named Moxy. Well, she isn’t too little. She is a bullmastiff and turns two years old here soon. You can find her in the blog area of my website. She enjoys going most places with me.

Travel Photography

When not photographing weddings, my passion has to be travel photography. If you ask 10 people what their favorite things are, 8 of the are going to tell you ‘Traveling’. I am no different. I don’t know if it is just enough to see a new area, I want to really experience. It can be quite a challenge going to an area which has been photographed a million times and walk away with unique images. In order to do that you really have to slow down and feel the area out, find out what it is that makes that area unique…and then capture it all with your camera.

Some of my favorite places to photograph include:

  • Zion National Park ( need to get back there asap)
  • Bahia Honda
  • The Maine Coast
  • Key West

Every year I plan a few trips. In 2012 I will be heading to:

  • New Orleans
  • Yosemite National Park
  • Glacier National Park

Questions and Answers

I get asked a lot of questions. I don’t really understand it, but people always want to know more about me. Here are some of the more common questions I get…and the answers too..

How did you get into photography?

When I was younger my mom had a camera that my dad had bought her…from Sears I think. It was a film slr camera. I always thought that it was neat and remember wanting to use it, or even just look through the viewfinder and zoom the lens in. I thought it was the coolest thing. My interest in photography never waned. I never took it too seriously until a few years ago. However, once I discovered HDR photography I was hooked. I have been photographing full-time for a number of years now and love it. I am thankful everyday for being able to pay my bills with a camera.

Do you have a favorite photographer?

Yep, a few. Trey Ratcliff has been an inspiration to me over the years, as he has been to most people shooting HDR. His website gets an insane number of visitors everyday and I suggest checking him out. When it comes to wedding photography my favorite photographer would have to be Cliff Mautner. His work is amazing. I love his style of using natural light and I strive to photograph weddings in the same style he does.

What gear do you shoot with?

I use all Nikon Gear. I have been working on a gear page, which may eventually get done. The long story short…I shoot primarily with a D700. The 3 lenses I use 95% of the time are the NIkon 70-200 2.8 VRII, the Nikon 24-70 2.8 and the Nikon 14-24 2.8.
