Giving up and Walking away…

Posted by in Cape Canaveral,Self Portraits | April 19, 2011

It is officially over…

There are few pains in life greater than the pain of love lost. As life persists you would think we would start to grow numb to it. After all, what is life but a series of hellos and goodbyes? You have to get good at walking away and saying good-bye if you stand a chance at making it in this world…

But then again….maybe good-bye isn’t always soo bad after all…

For those asking, This is a self portrait and was taken on Cape Canaveral National Seashore.

Walking Away from You Forever..

Foot prints in the Sand – Cape Canaveral

As human beings, we leave our mark everywhere we go. Whether it is our mounds of garbage in the ocean, houses, monuments, and even just our footprints..

Sometimes people leave marks in a much more permanent manner, such as on your heart, on your soul. You can hope and wish for that big wave which will come and wash away all traces of what that person left behind, but it never seems to come, does it? Everyone has had someone in their life that has left their mark, most of us have many.

Cape Canaveral Sunset

On my way back from the Florida Keys we stopped at Cape Canaveral National Seashore for some photographs. We arrived at the park right before sunset, I really wish we would have arrived alittle earlier. Not only was most of our time in the park consumed by trying to reach the Space Shuttle before dark, but there were some beautiful areas I really wish we could have stopped and enjoyed. The waterfowl here was amazing. Roadside lakes and ponds were filled with birds. And then the manatees. There was a manatee viewing deck, which we didn’t have time to stop at…next time I guess. Cape Canaveral Florida, I will be back!

If you look closely at this photograph from Cape Canaveral, you can see the hanger for the shuttles off in the distance. It really was a pretty cool location that I hope to get back to sometime soon. The sunset, like all of the sunsets in Florida while I was there, was beautiful. The colors and very intense…and the warm weather, well I wish I was there, ha.

Photographing the Space Shuttle, Cape Canaveral

You know, driving through Florida takes a lot longer than you may think.  Especially when driving north from the Keys, ha. On my way home, I decided that, as a photographer, it was my duty to find a great place around sunset to get some photographs….can’t pass up a Florida sunset. So, about an hour before the sun went down we came across Cape Canaveral National Seashore. Awesome! So, away we went.

When we got to the gate the Ranger informed us that the Space Shuttle happened to be on the launch pad and we would be able to get pretty close to it…well, pretty close ended up being about a mile, in fading daylight….

This is a picture of me walking down the Cape Canaveral Beach on the way to photograph the Space Shuttle. It was a helluva walk, especially when there was only an hour to sunset AND we had to be out of the park by sunset..

Cape Canaveral Photography

It was on this beach that I took one of the most meaningful pictures of my life..Facebook followers will know which one I am talking about. I will get it up in a post before long. I have to wait for the right time.
