McQueen Trail Sunset – Savannah Landscape Photography

If this location looks familiar…well it should. This photograph, taken on Wilmington Island, was taken from the same general area as this photograph. Wilmington Island is not too far from downtown Savannah.

Sometimes when I am out and about shooting around sunset I will see other photographers doing exactly what I am doing…photographing the sunset. It is somewhat dis-heartening to see the number of them who head back to their cars as soon as the sun drops below the horizon. Compare the two photographs and see what a difference it makes when you keep taking photos after the sun goes down.

Google +

So, I decided to drink the kool-aid and get on board with Google + . I don’t have anything bad to say about it, and as crazy as it sounds, I could see it one day catching up with Facebook and maybe even passing it. Hey, nobody thought Myspace was going to get passed up and Facebook over-took them over-night. If you are on Google + feel free to add me to your circle. Find me on Google + here.

Wilmington Island Sunset

The other night I was heading out to Tybee Island for some sunset photographs when I decided to pull off the ride at the McQueen Trail between Wilmington and Tybee Islands. It is on the left hand side of 80 if you are heading towards Tybee. It seems to be pretty popular with local runners and bikers.

When it comes to sunset photographs, I prefer to do bracketed sets of nine or more. I know other prominent HDR Photographers will say they only use 5 or 7, but I just prefer the look 9 gives me. To experiment, I took different brackets of the same scene using different exposure spacings etc…I will post the result of that next week.
